The Fort Walton Beach Chamber is the focal point for business activities and visitor information in the community. The Chamber holds three regular networking events each month, including First Friday Coffee, the largest regular gathering of business people in Okaloosa County. On the second Thursday of each month, members gather to focus on networking during lunch at "Nothing But Networking," and they relax with late afternoon "attitude adjustment" at Business After Hours on the third Thursday. The Chamber also organizes and sponsors a variety of events and festivals throughout the year, including the famous two-day Billy Bowlegs Pirate Festival on the first full weekend in June. Other annual events include the Winter Guest Fest, Mardi Gras on the Island, Musical Echoes (a Native American flute and cultural festival), Dog Daze (a celebration of canines and the people who love them), and many others. Working together, Chamber members focus on informed communication, education and networking opportunities. They help businesses get things done. Visit their website at www.fwbchamber.com to learn more about their many membership benefits, tourism information and numerous Chamber-sponsored events and festivals.
This year will be the 60th Annual Billy Bowlegs Pirate Festival, and we'll be pulling out all the stops for this traditional celebration of local "piracy." We'll have music and vendors at The Landing on Thursday, June 4, with fireworks and the Pirate Skirmish on Friday, June 5, and the long-awaited Pirate Landing on Saturday, June 6. On Monday, the pirates and the city defenders rest, and then celebrate the pirates' (probable) victory with a huge parade on Monday, June 8.
