Open for fishing, boating, bird watching, hiking, canoeing, wildlife photography and waterfowl hunting. In the summer, visitors should avoid disturbing sea turtle nesting areas on the outer barrier islands, which can be distinguished by turtle crawl tracks from the ocean. The 1.1-mile Marsh Trail off of Tamiami Trail offers hiking, birdwatching, photography and a canoe/kayak launching area. A new 2-story observation tower offers spectacular views of the surrounding marsh and wildlife. Pets permitted on a leash.
