This is the worst hotel experience I ever had. My party was staying in San Destin at the Marriott Courtyard- they were fully booked. I did inquire to find a room that was near by and clean, safe and quiet. The afternoon desk clerk assured me that the hotel room was quiet, clean and most of all safe as I was a single female and that I was quite leary as this hotel is an outside rooms. Later on that evening, I could hear people walking outside my room, talking loudly at 4am and once it looked like my room door was trying to be opened- I called the front desk to alert them of the activity and did not feel safe staying there. They assure me it would be investigated- the noise and people walking by the door continued during the wee hours in the am. The next morning a male housekeeper knocked once and then proceeded to enter my room to offer towels which I did not request. At checkout when I asked to talk to a manager I was told he was not available by a female clerk and her male coworket came out to talk to me which he was very condesending and offered an array of explansations of why I could not get a good nights sleep and could not offer any compensation other than at last sayign he could offer points but then could not answer how many points it took to get a nights stay- then he shoved a ten dollar bill at me - when asked what he could do and what the ten dollars is for - he said we were being difficult- I once mentioned if I could not talk to the front desk manager that I might have to contact the hotel chain- he asked for the ten dollars back and told me to leave that I had chosen not to cooperate with him. I must say that being a female and that this whole experience was very negative. I felt very unsafe and very demeanded by the front desk clerk, hotel male maid that walks in on you to your room. This hotel staff does need a major wakeup in customer service and value of what you promise and deliver- this room was not worth the eighty something dollars of not being able to sleep and watchign your door handle all night as people were trying to open your door on you.
