IPSC World Shoot XVII

The IPSC World Shoot is a multi-day match comprising at least 30 separate courses of fire, where the best IPSC shooters representing 88 countries from around the world vie for the title of World Champion. The competition consists of five different Divisions: Open, Classic 1911, Standard, Revolver and Production. Each Division is made up of five different Categories: Overall, Lady, Junior, Senior and Super Senior. All shooting competitions will be held at the Universal Shooting Academy in Frostproof, Fla. While the shooting competitions will take place in Frostproof, the city of Lakeland will serve as the hub for the International Shooting Confederation’s business and ceremonial programs during the event’s 12 days in Polk County. Downtown Lakeland and Lake Mirror will serve as the backdrop for the IPSC World Shoot opening ceremonies to be held on October 12. The opening ceremonies are a true “Olympic style” ceremony that will feature a parade of nations, musical entertainment and addresses by a variety of dignitaries that will signal the beginning of the IPSC World Shoot main match. The IPSC General Assembly consisting of delegates representing shooting sports federation’s world-wide will be held at The Lakeland Center on October 11. The Handgun World Shoot is the largest event conducted by the IPSC and only occurs every three years. The most recent World Shoot event, World Shoot XVI, was held in Rhodes, Greece and previous World Shoot events were held in Indonesia, Ecuador, South Africa and Brazil. Read Less
