Description:

The Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra 2015-16 season of classical and pops concerts will be celebrating 55 years of community supported, high quality professional music. Our 55th season, entitled A Symphonic Storybook, spins tales of romance, tragedy and drama. The story begins with the songs and poems of Carmina Burana. Next, we turn the page to Rimsky-Korsakov's symphonic suite, the storytelling of Scheherazade. The next chapter explores the love triangle of Robert and Clara Schumann and Johannes Brahms with Brahms' bittersweet Symphony No. 2. The next passage transports us to the opera with selections from some of the most famous operatic pieces ever written. Our epilogue celebrates Shakespeare's 400th birthday, with the passionate stories of Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer Night's Dream. The season would not be complete without our Pops Series, which includes the merriment of the theatrical storytelling of Rodgers and Hammerstein, a Night at the Oscars and the pizzazz and drama of The Sinatra Story. The symphony rings in December's joy with its annual Holiday Pops with five performances! Our new Small Stage Symphonies Series brings us back to Sanibel, Shell Point, to Faith Presbyterian Church in Cape Coral and the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center in Downtown Fort Myers with concerts from January through March. If you're braving Southwest Florida's summer heat, Maestro Kabaretti and our orchestra invites you to kick off our 55th season in August with our Summer Staycation Concerts, featuring The Seasons: Vivaldi & Piazzolla. Single tickets for the August performances are on sale now.
