A 5,000-acre wooded park located near Ocala that encompasses all but the headsprings of the world-famous Silver River. Canoes and kayaks glide along the transparent river with nothing but wild Florida along its banks. Hiking, biking and camping are popular recreations. Modern cabins are also available. Explore the pioneer "cracker" village and the Silver River Museum and Environmental Education Center. The Museum and "Cracker Village" is open on weekends and holidays for the public. The center is operated by the Marion County School District in cooperation with the park, it has school children present during the week.
