Friends of Florida State Parks

Friends of Florida State Parks, Inc. is a registered 501c3 volunteer organization that supports the work of Florida's 174 award-winning state parks and trails. Friends supports all the local Citizen Support Organizations working with individual parks helping them to raise funding for projects in the park, increase accessibility and acts as liaison between them and the Florida Park Service and Department of Environmental Protection in Tallahassee. Every year Friends announces a series of volunteer awards - best adult male and female volunteer, best youth boy and girl volunteer, best CSO group, best CSO project and so on. Friends also administers the Education in the Parks Program, a multi-agency initiative to encourage every school in the state to use their local parks as outdoor classrooms. Schools have a variety of curriculum-related programs to choose from and Friends, through their Yellow Buses in the Park program, offers travel grants when appropriate to help schools cover the cost of busing children to and from the park.
