Little Manatee River Paddling Trail

Only 25 miles from Tampa, this tannin-tinted river has a sandy bottom and steep, sandy banks. Paddlers will journey through a variety of habitats including sand pine scrub, willow marsh, and hardwood forest. Several inviting rest stops can be found along the way. About two miles downstream of the Leonard Lee Road put-in, an old railroad bridge marks the spot where the famous "Orange Blossom Special" once crossed the river. Due to its scenic qualities, the Little Manatee River is a designated Florida paddling trail.
