Plan your Wedding at the PGA National Resort & Spa

By: Kara Franker

Whether you're looking for an intimate ceremony or an extravagant event, the staff at PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens will design your dream destination wedding.

Of course, the PGA National Resort & Spa is known for its 90 holes of championship golf on five courses, including the famed Champion course, the PGA Tour Honda Classic and a list of other prized professional golf tournaments, which makes it a unique wedding destination.

Besides having fabulous weather year round, other features include a 33,000-square-foot health-and-racquet club with 19 Har Tru tennis courts and nine on-site restaurants and lounges. You never have to leave the property!

Have your choice of multiple outdoor and indoor ceremony and reception venue options.

The resort just underwent a $100 million revitalization, including the addition of a new outdoor venue called the Lakeside Lawn. And let me tell you, the resort thought of everything! The new front lawn was laid with cobblestone, so your heels won’t sink into the grass.

The resort put the new Lakeside Lawn to the test on Jan. 20 and hosted 260 guests for Tony and Tina’s wedding. The guests came to find out that the couple (though married in real life) were actors performing in a theater production. Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding is actually an off-broadway show that has been touring the country, entertaining guests for years.

“Our guests toasted the happy couple, enjoyed a buffet dinner and danced the night away,” said Jennifer Flores, Catering Manager for the resort. “It was a huge hit.”

Another outdoor venue option is the Honda Pavilion, which overlooks miles and miles of beautiful green golf courses. There are also several ballroom settings and private dining areas in the restaurants for customized banquets.

Once you’ve decided on your venue, it’s time to pick your local vendors. This list comes highly recommended:

Book the bridal suite and visit the spa.

After the nuptials, newlyweds can celebrate the occasion in the new romantic Bridal Suite featuring soothing champagne colors, rich wool carpeting and distinctive, elegant furnishings, all making for a chic amorous motif. Limestone bathroom walls, a relaxing, large soaking tub and walk-in shower complete the décor and make for an extraordinary romantic retreat.

You’ll definitely want to spend some quality time at the spa. I highly recommend the Lomi Lomi Massage, a deeply relaxing Hawaiian massage that will be sure to erase any traces of anxiety on your big day.

"It's very spiritual and holistic. It not only works the muscles and tissues, but penetrates the cell level," said my massage therapist, Arlee Roman. Arlee has been with the PGA National Resort and Spa for 15 years and trained under an expert in the technique in Hawaii.

Another great treatment for the bride is the Sea Water Pear Ritual. Using red seaweed and liquid calcium seawater pearls, esthetician Jules Reardon enriches the skin with vitality and hydration. I really enjoyed this treatment and I'm sure you will, too.
