If you were lucky enough to be at the PGA National Champion course for this year’s Honda Classic, you saw one of the best shows all year on the PGA Tour.

Tiger Woods made one of the best Sunday charges of his career, finishing birdie-eagle for a 62 on the tough Palm Beach Gardens course – and that wasn’t enough to win.

Rory McIlroy heard the roars for Tiger but stuck to his own game, saving par twice from bunkers on the difficult “Bear Trap” holes down the stretch and shooting 69 for a two-shot win. He rose to No. 1 in the world ranking and, going into 2013, shows no signs of giving up that perch.

Golf fans hope that the Woods-McIlroy rivalry has many more years to go, and the 2012 Honda Classic showed that McIlroy’s not ever going to be fazed by what Tiger throws at him.
