There are still more than a few snowbirds hanging around – and we're always glad to have them linger – but summer rates are already being applied at various parts of the state.
What's that mean? Why, cheap golf!
Brevard County has some excellent golf courses, as well as an exceptional municipal golf program; the county maintains three munis that are strikingly different.
The county went to summer rates April 15. County residents can get 18 holes in with a cart for $29 before noon. It's $25 after noon. Golfers can also get various other types of discounts, like twilight rates after 3 p.m. County residents can buy the county's popular discount cards starting in May for $25; non-residents can buy them for $45.
Here's a brief look at the tracks:
- Habitat Golf Course is one of the most scenic munis in the country, laid out in the middle of a wildlife sanctuary. Call 321-952-6312 for more info.
- Spessard Holland is an Arnold Palmer design. It's short at less than 6,000 yards, but that's because the "stretched executive course" has six par-3s. Call 321-952-4530 for tee times.
- Savannahs Golf Course has a regulation size 18-holer where you can also watch NASA rocket launches. I know this for a fact because I've done it; check out the photo above. It was taken from the course. Call 321-455-1375.
