Golf and Hedonism? How About Club Med Sandpiper Bay?

By: Tim McDonald

I've been to Club Meds in the past and I never played golf, if you know what I'm talking about, wink, wink, nod, nod. In fact, golf was sort of an afterthought at the Club Meds I've been to; at least in my memory, they were always about more hedonistic pursuits.

But, the good news for golfers is that the Club Med Sandpiper Bay in Port St. Lucie is apparently getting very serious about golf.

The South Florida resort, which bills itself as the "only all-inclusive family resort in the U.S." has recently completed renovations and remodels to its driving range, as well as to its Tom Fazio-designed practice green and short game facility.

It's part of an overall plan to upgrade all the golf facilities, including the new clubhouse, scheduled to open Dec. 20 of this year, as well as a new lounge and retail space.
There's an 18-hole course, of course, and an indoor training facility with club fitting and video analysis. The resort's golf academy is well-stocked with the latest technology and its director, Don Law, was recently named South Florida PGA Golf Professional of the Year.
This Miami resort is the "flagship " of Club Med "premium sports" resorts.
Guests can play for $25-$45 including cart fees, and they have unlimited golf packages available.
So all in all, this is a place golfers might want to check out. Golf and hedonism: How can you beat that?
