Cost of Gas Got You Down? Here's the Solution: Play Golf!

By: Tim McDonald

The marketing folks over at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort always seem to be coming up with something interesting.

Their latest makes good sense in these times of escalating gas prices and good weather: a spring $50 gas credit.

Yep, they give you 50 bucks to help buy your gas to get to the resort. It's for stays of three to seven days and can be reserved through March 21 for stays through May.

"This gas credit sale offsets the recent upswing in pump prices, while sending an invitation to families and couples to enjoy great accommodations and activities from the beach to the bay," said resort president John Russell.

From our perspective, the activity we're interested in is the golf and Sandestin is one of the best places in Northwest Florida to go for golf. The resort has four excellent courses, two of which are among the best in the state, the Raven and Burnt Pine.

I've played all four of the courses there, and they're a treat, with impeccable conditioning and terrific views. One of the courses, Baytowne, has free golf for kids after noon with a paying adult.
