Any golfer who's ever been to the Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort in Naples knows what a true pleasure it is to play the resort's two courses.

Still, it's always nice when one of your favorite places gets international recognition. Readers of Travel and Leisure and U.S. News voted the resort No. 9 on the list of the top 50 resorts of the U.S. and Canada.

The resort has obviously been working hard because that ranking was 24th last year.

Readers also ranked the Ritz-Carlton No. 32 among the top 50 family hotels in the U.S. and Canada, published in the June issue, and No. 70 among the Top 100 best hotels in the world.

These aren't just random rankings. The U.S. News hotel rankings are based on several factors, including the opinions of acknowledged travel experts and overall customer satisfaction expressed in guest reviews across the Internet.

I've played Tiburon Golf Club, which consists of the two Greg Norman courses at the resort, and they are both exceptional, with the links-style sod bunkers and fast, firm fairways. I particularly like the coquina shell bunkers and the fact you can putt from well off the greens at both courses. And of course they are always in immaculate condition.

Tiburon rates are at their lowest of the year right now; you can play these pristine tracks for $75. Call 239-593-2201 for more information.
