It's Buddy Trip Time in North Florida!

By: Tim McDonald

The spring weather I'm feeling in my bones can only mean one thing: Buddy trip!

I can also feel some good discounts going on now in the Jacksonville area, what the marketers call the First Coast.

If you haven't yet been to the Laterra Resort at World Golf Village, this might be a good time to go. The resort has been getting glowing reviews, and it's only a short drive to downtown St. Augustine.

You get three nights and three rounds from $399 for what they're calling "quad occupancy." Hey, I took Latin, I know if means "four." That's a three-bedroom suite with three beds and a pull-out couch and the golf is at South Hampton, Cimarrone and St. Johns Golf and Country Club.

The Hammock Beach Resort – which has two courses whose beauty will take your breath away - has "unlimited golf foursomes" from $235 per golfer, per night. That includes breakfast and unlimited use of the driving range.

Then there are a couple of scenic properties on beautiful Amelia Island offering deals that are perfect for two guys – or gals - wanting a short golf getaway.

Hampton Inn and Suites Amelia has one night and one round of golf at the superb North Hampton for $159, double occupancy with two beds. The inn is located in downtown Fernandina Beach on the Intracoastal Waterway. You get breakfast, too. I've stayed here many times and I can tell you it's in a great location. North Hampton is about a 10-15 minute drive.

Amelia Hotel at the Beach - just like the name says, it's right across the street from the ocean - has a similar deal: one night, one round from $119, double occupancy. You also get two beds, breakfast and golf at North Hampton.
