Stadium Course at Sawgrass Tops Florida Courses in National Top-100 List

Florida golf is, as usual, well-represented on Golf Magazine's latest awards list of top courses and resorts. There are several of these lists that come out each year, and Golf Magazine's is one of the most prestigious and comprehensive.

The Stadium course at the Sawgrass Marriott in Ponte Vedra Beach is the highest-ranked course at No. 9 in the magazine's "Top-100 You can Play," list, which basically honors courses in the U.S. that aren't private.

Pine Barrens at World Woods is next at No. 18, followed by Bay Hill (No. 51), the Ocean course at the Hammock Beach Resort (No. 78), the Copperhead course at Innisbrook (No. 79) and the Blue Monster at Doral (No. 98).

Joining those courses in the "Top 100 courses" in the U.S., which includes private facilities, are Florida tracks Seminole Golf Club, Calusa Pines, Trump International, the Concession and Jupiter Hills.

Pine Barrens is further honored by being one of only five  courses in the country on the best value list.

Florida's golf resorts also made a big impression. Two resorts – the Ritz Carlton Golf Resort Naples and Ritz-Carlton Grande Lakes Orlando -- won gold awards, and a whopping 14 Florida golf resorts earned silver award status.

Here's where you can find the various lists.
