Of the Travel Channel's Best Beaches, Miami Beach is the Sexiest
By Lauren Tjaden
Vibrant, brimming with nightclubs, hot bodies, celebrities and wanna-bes, Miami Beach sizzles with action. It constantly ranks as one of the world's sexiest beaches.
Sometimes called ‘The American Riviera’ and ‘The Sun and Fun Capital of the World,’ Miami Beach is home to the only public beach with topless sunbathing in United States. No single digit temperature ever was recorded here, and only one snowfall -- on Jan 19, 1977 – so bikini weather abounds.
This all adds up to one sexy beach town, and Travel Channel noticed. An authority on all things worth visiting, Travel Channel sifted through the most desirable beaches and island vacations to narrow down the nominees for the Best Beach Awards 2015 in 10 categories.
The results are in, and of the Travel Channel's Best Beaches, Miami Beach snagged the title for 2015 Sexiest Beach of all the sexiest beaches in the land.
Each of the Travel Channel's Best Beaches winners was chosen by an expert panel of advisors, including Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Model Nina Agdal, professional kitesurfer Chris DuComb and Travel Channel’s resident beach host Marianela Pereyra.
According to Agdal, Miami has everything you need. She cites its “soft sand, beautiful warm water, interesting people, volleyball and fun spots to go to for a bite or a beverage nearby” as well as the fact that “it’s acceptable to wear tiny bikinis,” which is definitely a key feature of all the sexiest beaches.
Travel Channel also liked that Miami is an easy getaway from New York, and that it’s “the place for hot days and nights.”
Must do’s in the Travel Channel's Sexiest Beach include:
- Visiting its famed Art Deco District on Ocean Drive, an integral part of the city and its colorful past.
- Exploring Lincoln Road. The people-watching is as good as it gets, the shopping is high end and superb, and the food is fab.
- Make a trip to Joe’s Stone Crab for one of the best meals of your life.
- And don’t forget that beach. It boasts soft sand, iconic, individually painted lifeguard stands, and blue waters. And you never know who you’ll see stretched out on a beach towel!
