The spring bite is on in Florida’s lakes. So the fishing catching should be epic for the 400 or so anglers in the Walmart Bass Fishing League headed to the Harris Chain of Lakes on March 26 for the third of five stops in the Gator Division.

FLW Outdoors is the largest fishing tournament organization in the world with more than 190 events and millions in prize money up for grabs in 2011. The organization has also taken bass fishing mainstream with the world’s richest fantasy sports game, FLW Fantasy Fishing.

Conditions should be perfect for the Harris chain event with anglers sight casting to bass that have just come off the spawn and are ready to eat. Takeoffs and weigh-ins will be at Hickory Point Recreational Facility located at 27341 State Road 19 in Tavares. Takeoff is scheduled for 7 a.m. while weigh-in will begin at 3 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The Bass Fishing League is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers. The top fishermen qualify for regional championships and then the Walmart BFL All-American event, with winners then moving up to the EverStart Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
