Tomorrow, Dec. 3, 2011, more than 600 runners from across the Southeast are expected for the third annual Run for the Redfish in Panama City Beach, a combined half marathon, 5K run and kids' fun run held at Pier Park.
Athletes will race down Front Beach Road to Pier Park and continue down Front Beach Road, looping back to end at Margaritaville, where the post race celebration and awards ceremony goes down.
The shotgun start will be at 8 a.m. for the half marathon and 8:30 a.m. for the 5K. All runners of the half marathon and 5K will receive a Run for the Redfish long sleeve T-shirt. It's $40 entry for the half marathon, and $25 for the 5K. Kids run free.
The race includes a certified course, professional timing and a professional race day photographer.
Proceeds benefit the Everglades Foundation, and the event is designed to raise awareness about the unique and sensitive Gulf coastal and marine habitats that support the red drum, one of the most popular species for recreational anglers in the Gulf. The Everglades Foundation has long been a leader in protecting and restoring Florida's most essential fish habitats.
Come on out and enjoy the run.
