Part of "The Original Florida" located in Suwannee County, Wellborn provides a relaxing escape in a natural setting.

Visitors and residents alike enjoy a variety of recreational activities which make use of this setting. Whether hiking along one of the many nature trails or biking along scenic country roads, sightseers should be on the lookout for wildlife native to the area. It is not uncommon to catch a glimpse of deer, otter, alligators, armadillos and beavers in their natural habitat.

Those who like to fish will find the rivers abundant with game fish such as bass, panfish, brim and catfish. The famous Suwannee River borders the county on three sides.

Nearby attractions can be found in Branford, known as the cave diving capital of the world, and White Springs, home to the Stephen Foster State Folk Culture Center. Live Oak, the largest city in the county, offers the Suwannee River State Park, and Ichetucknee Springs State Parks is in the nearby city of Fort White.

Wellborn itself lays claim to Florida's largest blueberry festival, hosting the annual event each June. The festival features such activities as a parade, pie eating contest, and the crowning of Little Miss and Mister Blueberry, providing family fun and typifying the down home feel of the community.
