Naples Food Tours - Eat Like a Local in Naples
I’m a massive foodie but I can still find it tricky on holiday to know where to find the best places to eat. That’s why I love the idea of the new Naples Food Tours (naplesfoodtours.com). Naples resident Elaine Osbourne, who moved to Naples after living in London for a number of years, is its creator. Her aim is to give people the low-down on where to eat in Naples, making it great for both visitors and locals.
The concept of the guided food tour is pretty simple, in two or three hours you visit some of Naples finest restaurants, markets and artisan food shops. Not only will you sample a range of gourmet delights, there’s also the chance to meet some of the owners and chefs, and quiz them about Naples cuisine and local specialities.
Throughout the tour there’s ample opportunity to tantalise your taste buds with a mix of sweet and savoury delights made from local ingredients. There are seven to eight tasting stops, lasting between 15-20 minutes, ranging from sampling at an award-winning chocolatier to a stop off for Southern barbecue. And along the way you can also learn more about the history and culture of Naples.
On Saturday mornings there is also a shorter Farmers’ Market Tour, with the opportunity to explore Third Street South Farmer's Market and North Naples Farmer's Market, plus one tasting stop at a specialty shop.
To ensure the Naples food tours are kept a personal as possible Elaine keeps group sizes to a maximum of 14 people. There’s also the option to book a private tour, perfect for girlie getaways or birthday celebrations. And as there’s no walking involved, afternoon tours start from the centre of Naples by air-conditioned minibus, it makes them accessible for all ages.
