ADD TO FAVORITES

A small town in northeast Florida first settled in the mid-1800s, Green Cove Springs is best known for its natural sulfur springs and its location on the St. Johns River, a bit south of Jacksonville. Don’t miss the annual Memorial Day RiverFest, sponsored by the city to honor military service personnel and veterans. Attractions include a parade of flags, arts and crafts, food, music, pony rides, free swimming in the city pool and a spectacular fireworks display on the river. Also worthy of note is the annual Soul Food Festival, which offers terrific food and music, as well as a dance competition, sweet potato pie contest and a men’s softball tournament.
