Monsters are spending the summer on Sanibel Island.
The interactive Sea Monsters traveling exhibit from Mote Marine Laboratory, a marine science institution based in Sarasota, will be featured through Aug. 18 at J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island.
The 12-foot exhibit includes a Monster Makeover panel where visitors can see themselves with different monster attributes. There’s also a fold-down Sea Puzzle, mako shark jaws, a tooth-to-diet matching activity, touchable shark skin, and an inflated giant squid.
Tarpon Bay Explorers, the refuge’s recreation concessionaire, will offer discounts on boat and touch tank tours while the exhibit is there.
