The handicrafts of India are the focus of this year’s Indiafest, an annual celebration of the culture of India held in Melbourne.
Indiafest 2014 is March 8-9 in Wickham Pavilion, 3845 N. Wickham Rd. Featuring bursts of color and splashes of paint, the handicrafts in the displays and hands-on demonstration booths range from silk art and embroidery to bandhani (tie-dye), fabricated jute, glass beading and mirror work, just to name a few.
The festival also features food, music, dance, clothing and jewelry.
Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children 12 and under. Children under 5 are free.
