To commemorate Black History Month, the Museum of Florida History in Tallahassee is sponsoring a lecture at noon on Feb. 25 by Florida A&M University historian Dr. Will Guzman on "The Civil Rights Act of 1964."
The 45-minute talk will honor the 50th anniversary of the landmark federal legislation signed into law on July 2, 1964. Guzman will speak about the act, incorporating state and local events connected to the national legislation.
Parking and admission are free.
The museum, at 500 S. Bronough St., collects, preserves, exhibits, and interprets evidence of past and present cultures in Florida, and promotes knowledge and appreciation of this heritage. The History at High Noon lectures are held of the fourth Tuesday of the month. They feature local experts discussing topics related to Florida history, culture, and arts. The presentations usually are followed by a brief tour of the museum.
