The App I'll Be Using from Now on When I Travel

I love my job. Traveling the Sunshine State and helping visitors from around the world plan their Florida vacation? Nice work if you can get it.

But for me, every trip comes with a hurdle: keeping track of receipts. I’m terrible at it. I’m always forgetting to submit invoices. (I get paid for this? Pinch me!)

By the time I return from a trip and remember to submit the reimbursement paperwork, often the ink on my receipts has faded… and that’s assuming I can find them in the first place.

For the past couple of excursions, I’ve been using an app I recently "discovered" called TinyScan. I photograph a receipt, and the app creates an instant black and white pdf. I can group all the receipt pdfs together for a single trip, then email them to myself or whoever needs a copy.

No more cutting, taping and scanning paper. No more lost receipts. Me likey.

If you’re looking for a way to organize receipts or other documents, give TinyScan a shot. The app is available for iPhone and iPad. The full version gives you unlimited documents and a few other bells and whistles, but the free version works just fine for me.
