One of the best things about Florida life is that we can do things outside pretty much whenever we feel like it. Outdoor movies in the middle of winter? You bet.
While folks up North are watching movies on Netflix in their Snuggies, Floridians head outside to catch a film under the stars. Here’s where you can enjoy a free flick al fresco.
Clearwater Beach: Head to Pier 60 for the nightly sunset celebration, then on Fridays and Saturdays, stick around for Sunset Cinema -- a free family-friendly movie on the jumbo screen. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, plus money for popcorn and sodas.
Maitland: As the name implies, the Wednesday Night Pitcher Show is a “spirited” good time on the lawn of the alternative Enzian Theater. Enjoy a cult classic film while nursing a beer, and try your luck at Jell-O shot movie trivia.
Miami Beach: SoundScape at New World Center features a mix of classic, cult classic and contemporary films. On Wednesdays, head to this iconic space for an evening that’s suitable for date night or family time.
Pensacola: I love this: On Saturday evenings, Community Maritime Park is transformed into a drive-in movie theater. Pile the kiddos into the minivan, and enjoy a family-friendly double feature.
