Time Traveling in Fort Lauderdale

By: Ginger Harris

By simply traveling to Fort Lauderdale you can take a trip through time -- at least for fashion.

There are two fabulous vintage boutiques in the area that you should add to your must-shop list.

The first is Honey Cat Vintage. The boutique is located in Hollywood and offers everything from clothes and accessories to artwork. Owner Dania Santana started off with an Etsy store, but later transitioned to a brick and mortar shop where visitors and vintage fanatics could shop her picks in person Tuesdays through Saturdays from noon to 8 p.m. From bohemian dresses in retro prints, ‘80s pumps with treasured detail and sequin jackets to Lucite clutches that shine like crystal, there are plenty of blasts from the past to swath yourself in.

Also in the area, is Jezebel. The shop, which offers a variety of humorous greeting cards and quirky gifts, houses a vintage clothing and accessories section in the back of the store. Find retro sunglasses, hats, bags, frocks, bathing suits, even wedding dresses. Mixed in are pieces from local designers, many using deconstructed vintage pieces. In addition to scoring a great vintage find, you can always pick up a little something for your friends back home from the endless knick-knacks at the front of the store.
