You could travel from Florida to Alaska and never see a place as, well, different, as Key West. Not only is its history fascinating, as the southernmost point in the continental United States its remote location gives people who desire privacy a perfect place to find it.
And if you find yourself in Key West during Valentines Day weekend, you’ll be here in time for the 54th Annual Key West House & Garden Tour that visits private homes, renovated homes, restored residences, and flourishing private gardens.
Trust me: this city has some of the coolest homes and gardens you’ll see anywhere.
Open on Feb. 14-15 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., proceeds from the tour will benefit the Old Island Restoration Foundation, which hosts the event. Even better, your ticket is good for both days and includes FREE admission to the Gardenfest which takes place Feb. 15-16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden on Stock Island.

FYI: When you’re in Key West, do not miss the Harry S. Truman Little White House. I just saw a wonderful documentary about his time here and, thank goodness, much of this former navy complex has been preserved as it was when ‘Give ‘Em Hell, Harry’ was here.
