Bicyclists Rejoice! Coast to Coast Connector on the Horizon!

By: Gary McKechnie

After years of discussion, things are moving forward for a coast-to-coast bicycle trail leading from near St. Petersburg through Orlando and then winding up at the Canaveral National Seashore on the Atlantic (or the reverse if you want to ride west).

According to an article in the Orlando Sentinel, the state government is leaning toward a $50 million plan that links together an assortment of bicycle trails until there’s an impressive 275 miles tying together the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean.

The website say that once completed, the trail would be longest continuous bike path in Florida and among the biggest in the nation.

Let’s hope it happens.
