Two Central Florida Bakers Win Awards At National Pie Competition

American Pie Council's National Pie Championships awarded their two top prizes to two Central Florida residents. 

Evette Rahman, owner of Sister Honey’s bakery, won Best of Show in the Professional Division for her “Sensational Strawberry Cheese Pie,” while John Sunvold, of Winter Springs, won Best of Show in the Amateur Division for his “Park Avenue Chocolatier Pie.” 

I guess that makes Central Florida the Pie Capital!

When it comes to desserts, pie has definitely moved up in popularity, even garnering preference over the trendy cupcake and macaron. And it's easy to see why with the countless types of fillings to appease every palate -- from fruity to tart to silky smooth chocolate, and all encased in a crisp buttery crust. 

I think I need to plan a little trip down to Sister Honey's Bakery for an afternoon coffee and slice of pie.
