The new Spice Road Table is open at EPCOT, offering guests authentic Mediterranean small plates and one incredible view.

I had the opportunity to pop in for lunch last week and I'm quite impressed. Designed to look and feel like a Mediterranean market, there are colorful glass lanterns hanging at various heights, illuminating the lobby and bar area.

To the left, you'll find cafe-style outdoor seating. And to your right -- decorative tile work, horseshoe archways, and bright blue Mediterranean hues frame a more intimate indoor setting. Both dining areas have a spectacular view overlooking the lagoon, making a meal here a prized seat for evening fireworks.

The authenticity of the experience continues with the menu, offering a delicious variety of small plates made for sharing and a selection of wines imported from Morocco, Turkey, and Lebanon. Wines are available to order as a flight of 3-oz. pours, tempting curious palates to sip something new. Their refreshing iced sangria ended up being my favorite, especially the sparkling white.

Here's just a sampling of the small plates you'll find:
-- North African Spicy Lamb Sausage
-- Hummus and Imported Olives
-- Rice Stuffed Grape Leaves
-- Grilled Beef Skewers
-- Fresh Mussels Tagine

Definitely save room for dessert; they have a variety of baklava, sweet fresh mint tea scented with rose water, and a saffron and lemon custard dusted with pistachios that will make you forget creme brulee ever existed.

Currently, they're not accepting reservations. We were able to walk right in and easily get a table for lunch, but if you'd like to enjoy EPCOT's IllumiNations show while sipping wine and nibbling on tapas with your friends, put your name in at the front desk at least an hour in advance.

Another great option is to make a reservation for EPCOT After Hours Wine Down, where guests can relax and enjoy wine pairings and light bites after the park closes.  EPCOT After Hours is available Thursday through Sunday evenings from 9:15 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Reservations can be made at www.DisneyWorld.com/Spring or by calling 407-WDW-DINE.
