This past weekend, we traveled the backroads between Orlando and Weeki Wachee and discovered The Showcase of Citrus along Highway 27 in Clermont. It was the perfect place to stop in the middle of our long road trip – with so many activities and shopping, too.
This roadside citrus farm and cattle ranch is a family-owned attraction with 2,500 acres for exploring and relaxing. Families can traipse the citrus groves and choose from grapefruits, lemons, tangerines and of course, plenty of oranges. Grab a bag and get to picking!
For those looking for adventure, climb aboard the Eco-Safari Swamp tour and get a unique look at the groves and forest from 12 feet up.
There’s a nice picnic area, a playground and even a petting zoo on the grounds – and it’s all free to explore. It was a nice break for us in the middle of a long road trip.
I loved exploring the country store – so many unique things, including gator jerky and even prepackaged frozen gator meat. (If I had a cooler, I would have taken some home with me.)
The Showcase of Citrus offers pre-picked fruit in the store; just grab a bag and choose your favorite fruits. We even bought a bottle of fresh orange juice that was squeezed just that morning.
Be sure to try out a few free samples, too. There were orange and grapefruit samples available during our visit – so sweet and delicious. And if you’re in need of a treat to cool you off, try a hand-crafted creamsicle, made on-site at the store.
