5 Things to Do in Panama City Beach

By: Carrie McLaren

Most families choose to hit the beach during the summer – and in Panama City Beach you’ll find much more than sand and sun to have a great time. Here are some of my family’s favorite spots to relax have fun and make great memories:

Shop till You Drop – Located across the street from the beach Pier Park is the ultimate outdoor shopping destination. With 124 stores a variety of dining options and plenty of entertainment venues including the Grand IMAX Theater you won’t go home without a few shopping bags.

Fins upGulf World Marine Park is an interactive educational park with plenty of marine life. There’s a stingray touch tank a reptile show and an indoor area with walking trails featuring beautiful birds. There are also penguins alligators and even flamingos on display at the park. And of course the showpiece is the dolphin show – watch these beautiful animals play with trainers and dance along to music. And don’t miss the sea lions – if you’re lucky you may even get a kiss on the cheek!

Good eats - The Back Porch Seafood and Oyster House in Pier Park is a great spot for people-watching and great food. Located directly across the street from the beach at Pier Park the beach atmosphere was fun and my girls loved that their meals were served with a Frisbee as a plate – and they got to keep the Frisbee!

Soak up the sunSt. Andrews State Park offers something for everyone whether you want to relax and get a tan or fish from the pier and jetties. Canoeing and kayaking also are popular activities or you can rent bikes and go for a ride through the park. Nature trails wind through the park providing great views for bird watchers. You may even spot a deer or two.

The outdoors - Experience all that Panama City Beach has to offer in the great outdoors from the nature and outdoors at St. Andrews State Park to a relaxing day at the beach.

You’ll never run out of things to do when you visit Panama City Beach.
