My family and I recently experienced this 90-minute adventure along the waterways of Clearwater. As we climbed aboard the pontoon boat, we were greeted by a biologist and we set sail.
During our tour, the on-board biologist cast a net into the waters, let it sit for three minutes, then pulled the net back --filled with a variety of creatures for us to learn about during our ride. With water-filled tanks ready for these creatures to sail with us on short voyage, it was fascinating to see these animals up close.
What really made it fun is that each trip is different. You never know what you’ll see on your trip. On the morning of our trip, the net brought in a spider crab, a silver perch, a lizard fish, a sheephead fish, a mango snapper and even a blowfish!
Another part of our adventure included a stop at a scenic shell island. We had time to find shells and to take some fantastic photos.
On our way back to the aquarium, our biologist shared more information about the creatures we'd found along our journey. It was an incredible experience and I loved learning alongside my kids.
Insider Tip: Book the first safari tour of the day for smaller crowds. And because the sea creatures are more active in the morning, you’ll have a better chance of seeing more species during the net pull.
