What happens when you shut down Ocean Drive and line it with gleaming antique cars, vintage toys, a 1930’s fashion show and a dog costume parade? An entertaining Miami-style event that can only be known as Art Deco Weekend.
This year the Miami Design Preservation League is amping up its one-of-a-kind street fair and adding The Antique Experience in Lummus Park. Two climate-controlled tents will house “Modernism.com: Live on Ocean Drive” and “Antique Lifestyle: Sneak Preview for the Miami Beach Antique Show.”
The family-friendly event has something for everyone, including a vintage toy exhibit, live entertainment for kids at The Playground Stage at 13th and Ocean, interactive games and outdoor movies.
After dark you’ll find a lineup of live bands playing jazz and standards of the Art Deco era. If you want to learn more about the era, check out a few of the lectures at the Wolfsonian or take a tour of the Art Deco District. Schedules are available at www.artdecoweekend.com.
Count on the films and fashion, live music and lectures, vendors and visuals, parades and preservation that set this street fair apart from any other.
