Beach Yoga Classes by Donation on Anna Maria Island

Don't just do something - sit there!  Author Unknown

Anna Maria Island, nestled at the southern mouth of Tampa Bay, is a sweet slice of old-time Florida. It’s a place without high rises, where you can nosh on seafood in a beach café, rent a Hobie Cat and sail into the Gulf, or just relax by its turquoise waters. It’s peaceful, unpretentious, and easy on the eyes.

And yoga was meant to be practiced on its shores. I can’t imagine a better place to be in the here-and-now and appreciate what that means. Something about the sugar-white sand and sound of the surf moves one into a simpler, more beautiful space.

Rachel Weber, certified yoga teacher of Starfish Yoga, offers you the chance to do that every Monday and Thursday at 8:30 a.m. at Manatee Public Beach (4000 Gulf Drive, Holmes Beach). She teaches her students the importance of proper alignment and encourages the use of breath to focus the mind.

Her Beach Yoga classes are beginner-friendly and open to all. You should bring a big towel or sheet. The cost is by donation. Call 941-405-3377 for more information.

Turns out the here-and-now is especially wonderful on the beach.
