For over 100 years, pirates have invaded Tampa for the annual Gasparilla Pirate Fest. The event takes place along the scenic Bayshore Boulevard in the heart of downtown.
To kick off the festivities, the rugged pirate ship Jose Gasparilla makes it way to the Hillsborough Bay and is met by ships in hopes of defending the city. From there, the fun of the day’s events begins.
In addition to the invasion, the Gasparilla parade features more than 130 krewes, floats and bands – it’s now the third largest parade in the nation!
Kids will love collecting treasures and beads as the parade makes its way along the 3.8-mile parade route.
The Pirate Fest Street festival continues through the day featuring food, crafts and live entertainment.
