Tracing its origins to the Spanish tradition of displaying a white candle in the window during the Christmas holidays, Nights of Lights in St. Augustine is a spectacular lighting that reflects the city’s 448-year history.
It’s not too late to take it all in: For the 20th year of the historic lighting, the celebration has been extended through Feb. 2, 2014!
During Nights of Lights, St. Augustine glows with holiday magic, from the ground to the rooftops. Selected by National Geographic in 2011 and 2012 as one of the 10 best holiday lighting displays in the world, the Nights of Lights features millions of tiny white lights that create a magical atmosphere in the nation’s oldest city.
Walk through the Plaza de la Constitucion and stare up at the glowing lights in the trees, and wander through the brick-laden streets of downtown while taking in the beautiful and magical sight of all those white lights.
