Despite what you may have heard, you don’t need a private yacht to vacation in Naples. (Although if you happen to have one, call me.) Here are some ways to enjoy the city for less.
1. You’ve gotta be “inn” it to win it: Awhile back, hubby and I spent a long weekend in Naples. I won’t say where we stayed, but within an hour of being there, we were wishing we’d booked a room at the Inn on Fifth instead. The newly remodeled hotel is located on thriving Fifth Avenue, within walking distance of the trendy shops, restaurants and galleries -- no need to shell out money for cab fare or parking. And through Oct. 31, 2013, Florida residents can save even more. Nightly rates are as little as $119 per night mid-week and $139 on weekends. Club-level suites start at $335 per night, giving guests access to larger floor plans, a rooftop hot tub, cruise ship-like quantities of food and more. For reservations, call 888-403-8778 or go to innonfifth.com.
2. Home free: Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club is back with its popular “third night free” promotion. The beachfront resort houses a golf course, tennis center, spa and more. Can’t you just feel your stress melting away already? The offer is good through Sept. 30, 2013. Call 239-261-2222 or visit naplesbeachhotel.com.
3. All that jazz: Here are two words everyone loves: free concert. Even if you’re not staying at Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club, you can take advantage of its annual SummerJazz on the Gulf series. The monthly entertainment takes Saturdays from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the resort’s charming Watkins Lawn, overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. Hotel guests get free parking at the resort. Non-guests are welcome, too. Just park at nearby Lowdermilk Park; show your Naples Beach sticker for free parking. Then hop aboard the trolley for free transportation to and from the concert. For details or directions, call 239-261-2222. Here’s the sked for the rest of the summer:
