I know quality costs money, but lately museum prices are getting redonkulous. That’s why I always look forward to spreading the word about Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day Live.

Saturday, Sept. 28 is the annual event, when museums and attractions nationwide offer free admission.

Among the participating venues are dozens of Florida attractions, from the lovely Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens in Jacksonville to picturesque Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales to the historical Key West Lighthouse and Keeper's Quarters Museum and many in between.

Admission is free, but you must order a ticket in advance. Each ticket is valid for two people.
