Seaside is a little slice of heaven in the Florida Panhandle, located between Destin and Panama City. This gorgeous shopping and dining area is just steps from a white sand beach and the Gulf of Mexico, much like the name suggests.
And while the scenery may be a major draw to Seaside, so is the shopping. You will find a large collection of art stores, locally owned boutiques, home décor stores, all with their own individual flavor that make them unique to Seaside.
Going strong for twenty-five years, one store that stands out is Perspicasity, an open-air bazaar concept that is like nothing else. Each little 56-square-foot hut is arranged like a vignette, so the customer “has an idea of how to wear the style.”
Founded by Daryl Davis, Perspicasity has always stayed true to its original mission of providing fashionable clothing made of natural fibers. In Seaside’s early days, Davis ran a produce stand in this now-famous location. She soon found that her customers were more interested in the clothes on her back than the fruits and vegetables on her stands. So responding to demand, she began to carry a few cotton items and was pleased to see her clothing sell out each week.
The open-air market offers a wide assortment of bohemian accessories ranging from straw hats, French market totes, espadrilles, leather sandals, Havaiana flip flops, handmade jewelry, batik sarongs, colorful cotton kurtas, sunglasses and much more.
Perspicasity is open year-round, weather permitting. You can visit the market on County Road 30-A in Seaside, details below.
