Race Around Palm Island on Sept. 28

By: Kevin Mims

With thousands of miles of waterways in Florida, it's no wonder that we have a pretty happening SUP scene here. While most enthusiasts probably consider themselves recreational paddleboarders, Florida also has set of hardcore racers that are considered some of the best in the country.

On Sept. 28, grab your paddleboard and head to Cape Haze for the Race Around Palm Island, which takes place at Palm Island Resort. There are three different races to choose from - a 13-mile miler that goes all the way around Palm Island, a 3-mile open-water race, and a 1.5-mile fun paddle, for those who are just getting into SUP racing.

Make a weekend out of the event with a stay at Palm Island Resort. Registered racers can take advantage of special rates, plus there's a racer's meal on Friday, Sept. 27, and a post-race barbecue on Saturday once all the action on the water has concluded.
