Good news, mountain bikers - fresh trail is being constructed at Starkey Wilderness Park in Pasco County. If you live in the area, you already know that it's a little bit of a haul to find good places to ride. For visitors, this means you don't have to leave the fat tire bikes at home on your next trip.
The trails are being built by SWAMP, a Tampa-based mountain bike club. If you've ever ridden the Flatwoods trails or in Croom, then you know SWAMP will surely build some sweet singletrack at Starkey Wilderness Park.
Trail construction begins soon, with an expected opening for some of the trails in the spring of 2014. Initially, 8 miles of trails are being built, with the hopes of expanding to 20 miles at some point.
