Love Wildflowers? Head to the Florida Wildflower Symposium on Sept. 27-28

By: Kevin Mims

Who doesn't love the sight of a field full of native Florida wildflowers? I know I do – and if you are the same way, head over to Titusville on Sept. 27-28 for the annual Florida Wildflower Symposium.

If you're wondering what goes on at a wildflower symposium, here's what's happening. It's much like a wildlife festival, except the focus is on the flowers. There will be several field trips to some of Brevard County's finest natural lands – Diceranda Scrub Preserve, Enchanted Forest Preserve (love this place) and Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, just to name a few.

Workshops and presentations covering wildflower-related topics will be held at Enchanted Forest Preserve on Sept. 28. The Friday field trips are only $10, and Saturday's presentations and workshops cost $25 for Florida Wildflower Foundation members, and $35 for nonmembers.
