Want to turn some pedals in St. Johns and Flagler Counties? Grab your gear and head to the Spoonbills and Sprockets tour of Scenic A1A on Nov. 3.

The tour features three different rides - choose from a 32, 70 or full 100 mile trip. On the tour, attendees have the opportunity to get a good look at some of the area's history and natural beauty, all from two wheels. Or three, if you ride a recumbent.

All three tours begin and end at Marineland, where riders can head out on the 100-mile trip at 7 a.m. The mass start for all three tours starts at 8 a.m. Don't forget - Nov. 3 is Daylight Savings Time, so make sure to roll back your clocks.

Riders will tour some pretty nifty spots along Scenic A1A, such as Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area (one of my personal faves in the state), Varn Park, Marineland and historic St. Augustine. After the ride, stick around for the cookout and gain back a few of those calories you burned off during the ride.

If you plan to stay a extra day or two, several area hotels are offering special deals to tour participants.

Proceeds of the ride go to support the Friends of A1A Scenic and Historic Coastal Byway. For more information and maps, visit www.scenica1a.org.
