There seems to be no end to opportunities for birding enthusiasts to get together in Florida.
On Oct. 12, birders are invited to Alachua County to enjoy the fall weather while scoping out numerous bird species at several locations including Newnan’s Lake, Tuscawilla Preserve and Prairie Creek Preserve. Expect to see bald eagles, pileated woodpeckers kestrels and sandhill cranes, among others.
Participants will meet at 7 a.m. at Earl P. Powers Park
in Gainesville. Be sure to bring binoculars, a bottle of water and a field guide of North American birds.
