It’s said an army travels on its stomach.
So do I.
When I’m on the road, the best part of the day is when I run across a cool diner or local favorite where I find waitresses who call me ‘honey’ and where pies spin around on carousels and home-cooked comfort foods fill the menu.
I found one recently at The Front Porch near Dunedin, and now VISIT FLORIDA reporter Larry Elliston reports on a place that’s probably very well known to many, but which just landed on my radar.
It’s Snook Haven, an historic restaurant that rests on the banks of the Myakka River near Venice. The setting looks peaceful and tranquil and the food (primarily ribs and smoked meats) is right up my alley.
Snook Haven has been here since 1948 -- but I haven’t been there. At least not yet. But I will be there soon.
Watch this short video and I bet you will, too.
