In Tavares (roughly ten minutes south of Leesburg and 40 minutes northwest of Orlando), Minda Music Store is hosting a first-time event that should appeal to long-time Floridians.
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., ‘The Orange Blossom Special: A Celebration of Music and Art’ will introduce you to singer/songwriter Cathy DeWitt, writer/musician William Good, musician John French, potter Martin Cushman, and one of my favorites – Rick Kilby – who’s not only a great graphic designer, he’s also the author of ‘Finding the Fountain of Youth: Ponce de Leon and Florida's Magical Waters’ and the administrator of the very popular facebook page, Old Florida.
So if you’re in the neighborhood on Saturday, Nov. 9, drop by and steep yourself in 100 percent pure Florida art and music. When you’re done here, head over to downtown Tavares and have a bite at Al’s Landing as you watch the seaplanes fly in.
I love finding independent music shops; especially when they go they go the extra mile and, in addition to teaching kids how to play, they add events like this. That’s a good thing. Hope you can make it.
