Although most of us are in too much of a hurry to stop, more than 750 historical markers are spread across Florida, always ready to tell us about what happened where – and sometimes why.
It’s especially interesting to me as an ‘off the beaten path’ traveler to find these markers in places that few people go today – and learn that these places were once popular for cattle drives, communities, a battle, a factory, or some quirk in history that earned it honor of having a sign erected to tell its story.
